Why can’t I use camera rotation in starter pack?

Q: I have been using the free version of Xeoma for ages. On Saturday I purchased the starter pack but I’m disappointed that I can’t use the roaming function on my camera, can you explain why please

A: Xeoma is sold in packs – which we call editions. Since there are 4 different commercial editions (Pro, Standard, Lite and Starter), there must be something that makes them different, right?
And there is – it is what features are included into this or that edition.

Surely, it’s only logical that the most expensive edition has more features (and more advanced ones) than the cheapest, and vice versa. Note that I mention features, not just modules. PTZ is also a feature that can be included or not depending on which edition you select, just like remote access, emap, or simultaneous view of several cameras recordings.

That is exactly the case with the most affordable edition Xeoma Starter. It is basically 1 step up from the Free edition, which also doesn’t have PTZ supported.
Xeoma Starter has quite a lot of Xeoma features and modules, but PTZ is unfortunately not included.
This has of course been stated on the Xeoma Starter page

As you can see, all conditions are in plain sight on our website, and a customer is encourages to see them. The Buy page has links to the editions’ descriptions to learn more about what you are about to purchase.

If you happen to have questions about a feature that you required, you are advised to contact us and ask.
Besides, we have Trial versions of all editions now, including Starter, so you can try the edition you are interested in before you buy.

The cheapest edition to have support for simple PTZ control is Xeoma Lite

It of course has its own limitations, but not as many as Starter, and is more expensive.
Xeoma Lite is purchased per number of cameras with the maximum of 4 cameras per server.
