How to save recordings to different directories

Q: I want the recordings to go to a directory created on the NAS according to the criteria set by my software (for example serial number or shipping date). The next recording goes to another directory, etc.. After I want to search and watch the recording itself by this (serial or batch number).

A: ” I want the recordings to go to a directory created on the NAS according to the criteria set by my software ” – This can be done, if you use the “Save to File” module instead of “Preview and Archive” – the module allows to set custom paths and names for files with recordings. You can set these dynamically by editing the module’s settings with JSON API.

However, please note that this method would prevent you from using Xeoma’s own archive features. See below for more details.

“After I want to search and watch the recording itself by this (serial or batch number)” – if both searching and playback are handled by your software as well – yes, this would work. The files created by the “Save to File” module cannot be played back in Xeoma itself, nor can Xeoma search anything in them.

If, on the other hand, you wish Xeoma to do searching and/or playback – you will have to rely on “Preview and Archive” module and teach your software to work with Xeoma’s naming conventions for files and folders.
