Responses to user support requests. Weekly overview. Part 17.

Q: I have a Xeoma Starter perpetual licence and would like to add a Sound Alarm Module, but I don’t see how I can do that; perhaps second perpetual licence would be appropriate.

A: Good news is, the Sound alarm module is available in Starter on the server part. This means that if you have Starter on your PC, you can hear the sound, while if you connect to the server from any other device – on that device the sound will not be produced.

At the same time, the Starter’s limitation is 3 modules per chain – so the sound alarm module must be the last one and the only destination module.

> perhaps second perpetual licence would be appropriate.

Unfortunately, second perpetual license will not make much sense as Starter licenses cannot be combined on a single server. The Lite edition allows to build a 6-module chains, however, the sound will still be played on the server part only.

To sum up, the Sound alarm module is available in Starter, though with the limitations.

Q: i have a standard license and wanted PTZ tracking which it says is included in the standard license on the website but when I try to use it it says that I need a PTZ license module?
Also, I have a standard license and have 8 cameras and I wanted to add another for 9, can I just buy 1 license and add it to what I have already? If I buy 1 pro license can I use the pro functions on any camera?

A: Please make sure you are using “PTZ Tracking” module, not “Moving to PTZ preset” module; the former works in Xeoma Standard and Xeoma Pro, while the latter only works in Xeoma Pro.
Yes, you can activate another license for 1 camera on your server, it will combine with the previous license. If this new license is a Xeoma Pro license, some of the Pro features will be available for all cameras, some only for 1 camera; please see the detailed list here: https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/pro/

Q: will server / module update automatically? or i have to reinstall it?

A: You can tell Xeoma to perform the update by going Main menu -> Information -> Check for updates.

Q: i cam mix standard and pro license in sigle server?
I can select which cam to use pro which cam to use standard right?

A: Yes, you can mix Standard and Pro. Xeoma does the selection for you automatically: when you add a Pro-exclusive module to a camera’s chain, Xeoma assigns Pro status to this camera.

I’d like to also mention that we have a great video presentation of Xeoma, watch it here!

And of course here are the answers to your questions:

    1.**Quotation**
    > * Pricing/licensing for deployments across **10, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1,000 locations**

For on-site deployment the price for Xeoma is formed this way:
a basic license + license for extra AI modules that you might want to buy depending on your needs.

Almost all licenses are purchased per amount of cameras used. This helps to save and only buy as many as you need.

    a) Basic license is either Xeoma Standard ($29 per camera – or less if you buy more) or Xeoma Pro ($87 per camera – or less if you buy a bigger package). The prices are for lifetime, perpetual licenses with 1 year of free updates included.

Xeoma Standard is for basic video surveillance – it has recording, notifications, some regular detectors like intrusion detector, basic PTZ control, remote access.
Xeoma Pro has everything from Xeoma Standard plus professional video analytics like counting people crossing the line, smoke detection, blurring sensitive zones, etc. Plus it makes JSON API available that is usually needed for integration.

To help you save more, you can use a combination of those two. That will help get features you need (like people counting or API) and still save on those cameras that do not need such features.

For price quotation it is important to know how many cameras will be there on each location.
You can scale the price of Standard and Pro to meet the number of cameras used in those locations.

b)AI modules that are purchased extra are face recognition, age recognition, gender recognition, etc.

They are mostly priced depending on amount of cameras, too.

    More on AI extra modules

c)Cloud deployment is also possible, yet more expensive. It is paid monthly. In most cases, its price is calculated roughly as 1/8 of the desktop deployment price per month. If you are interested in this deployment type as well, we can send a quote when we know this information:
1)amount of cameras per location (per server)
2)camera parameters (bitrate, resolution, fps) (for Cloud deployment only)
3)amount of cameras requiring special features per location (per server)

    > * Any cost scaling models or volume discounts

Yes, we have discounts for Xeoma basic licenses (Standard and Pro). The model is simple: the bigger package you buy, the cheaper it is per camera.

For example, Xeoma Standard for 1 camera is $29 (perpetual license with 1 year of free updates included). If you buy a package for 16 cameras, it costs $820, which is $25.63 per camera.
Similar situation is for Xeoma Pro.

So it might be a great idea to connect more camera to one server and buy a bigger package. The only downside is that you can’t break those licenses. You have to use a whole package on one server.

See how prices scale on Xeoma Buy page or as a spreadsheet here

    > 2.**Technical Requirements**
    > * Minimum server/GPU/storage specifications for each scale level

Hardware requirements depend on these parameters:
1)amount of cameras per location (per server)
    2)camera parameters (bitrate, resolution, fps)
3)amount of cameras requiring special features per location (per server)

Let’s assume you will have 8 cameras per server (per location), and each camera will be H.264 with 1 Mbps bitrate. Each of them will be using these additional features: face recognition, demographic insights, people counting, heatmaps, alerts.

The hardware requirements in this case will be:

    CPU: i7-12700k or similar
    RAM: 16 GB
SSD for OS: 128 GB or more
OS: Any Windows or Linux of supported
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2070 or newer. Nvidia required.
Storage: depends on storage time, for example, 1.2 TB for 14 days of loop recording.

If you let us know more about your cameras, we will happily provide a more precise quote!

    > * Network requirements for live and recorded video

It’s basically calculated as camera bitrate x amount of cameras x1-2.

So for 8 cameras with 1 Mbps, it will be 8-16 Mbps.

    > * Deployment options (on-premises, hybrid, or cloud)

All of these are possible in Xeoma. Our main product is for on-premises deployment yet we also have a Cloud solution, and they can be combined.

    > 3.**Camera Compatibility & Integration**
    > * Confirmation of compatibility with existing** IP cameras** in our sites** **

Xeoma supports 99% of network cameras in the world. Roughly said, only those cameras are not supported that are not meant to work in third-party software.
See list of cameras supported in Xeoma here

    > * Supported video stream protocols (RTSP, ONVIF Profiles, others)

Supported are HTTP/HTTPS, RTSP, RTMP, ONVIF (any profiles).

    > * Integration options with our current surveillance infrastructure

Xeoma has multiple integration tools: from APIs or using cameras’ detectors, to sending or receiving commands or overlay information via http. See more about Xeoma integration tools here

    > 4.**Features & Capabilities**
    > * AI-based analytics (face recognition, demographic insights, people counting, heatmaps, alerts)

Yes, we do have these and even more!
Face recognition: a new method is on the way that has amazing face recognition accuracy and works with various face angles.
Demographics: AI-powered Age Recognition and Gender Recognition are at your service,
People counting: there are various methods for this too, depending on the task. For example, Cross-line counting will count everyone who crosses a virtual line. Let us know more about the task, and we’ll advise more!
Heatmaps: colorful representation of the most and least popular areas is available in Xeoma’s Motion Detector.
Alerts: nearly a dozen of various reactions is available, from Email Sending to mobile push notifications and visual effects. See more about notifications here

Xeoma has over 100 features, so it can do even more!

    > * Multi-site and centralized management capabilities across all sites

Yes, this is also supported. Flexible remote access allows to connect to several servers at the same time for view and/or control.
User profiles with different roles are also available.

    > * Mobile and desktop remote access options

Sure, along with desktop software, Xeoma’s mobile apps for Android and iPhones/iPads are available (free of charge).

    > * APIs and integration with other operational systems (if available)

Xeoma’s extensive API allows it to be integrated with various external systems. Also available is integration with cash registers that overlays information from the device to recordings and allows search for such tags.

    > 5.**Support & Services**
    > * Available support and maintenance packages

You can get Xeoma customer care for free! For big clients we also offer all-round support like help with setup, live demonstrations, webinars, and even remote support sessions.

    > * Training and onboarding services

Typically, Xeoma doesn’t require any special training or onboarding. Extensive video tutorials and User Manual Setups Guides are usually sufficient for a new user to get familiar with Xeoma. However, we are always happy to help and provide support, training, or demonstrations.

    > * Typical implementation timeline for each scale level

It depends on the features used and the technical background of the user. I would say it might take from 1 minute to a couple of days to set up one server. Multiply that by number of locations. However, after one server is configured, the settings can be duplicated for the rest of them which saves time greatly.
Please note that it might take more to train face recognition depending on how many people you need to have in the database – but then again, there are also tools for mass training, too.

    > We would appreciate receiving your technical and commercial proposal, including any relevant product documentation and reference cases.

Since video surveillance is confidential, we do not usually gather or share references. However, you can see an extensive list of our clients and testimonials.
