Responses to user support requests. Weekly overview. Part 9.

Q: I have made some slight changes to 1 camera setting, then rebooted my Linux machine.
When i stared xeoma, a large window appeared telling me ‘Activation problems detected’ then below that is says:
Number of available sources has been reduced Has been available 16 sources now available 0 Par tof the sources will be turned off
Please try to activate your licence code again or restart the program

I did restart the program, but sill no media files.

A: If you’re seeing a message stating that number of cameras that can be used in Xeoma has been reduced, more often than not it means that there are issues with one or several licenses.
In the warning text you can see what kind of licenses have been disabled. This might happen if Xeoma cannot access its folder with files (for example, if a disk is not mounted quick enough) or – in case of virtual machines and/or demo licenses – if there is no Internet access to confirm the licenses. Please wait a while. If you see all cameras coming back behind this message, you can click ‘Continue work’. If the ‘Waiting for image’ warning continues to be shown instead of cameras image, please click the ‘Activate’ link and activate the licenses anew.

Please note, demo licenses require constant internet access. If the connection is lost anytime, the licenses will become inactive.

Q: Could you please answer the following:
1) Is it possible to display the images on multiple screens simultaneously (multiple computers and television screens)?
2) How are the videos stored? Does it have to be on your premises, or can we bypass your cloud and store them locally?
3) Does the solution allow for the remote management of multiple users from the same company at our different sites, each with their own monitor or computer in their own surveillance room?

A: 1) Yes, Xeoma allows for that: https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/articles/several-monitors/
2) By default all video archives are stored directly on the server where Xeoma is installed. More on this here https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/description/#archive
3) Yes, absolutely, you can create any number of users and give the specific access permissions within Xeoma. These users can connect to the server remotely from client devices (computers, smartphones).

Q: If I was to buy the Xeoma Lite licence because I only have 4 cameras at £50.90, and later on I want to add another camera, would I have to buy a whole new Standard licence? or is there an ‘upgrade’ cost?

A: Yes, you would need to purchase Xeoma Standard for all 5 cameras in that case, since there is no direct upgrade from Lite to Standard. If you know in advance that you will be using 5 or more cameras – it’s better to get Xeoma Standard right at the start.

Q: is it possible to set up accounts within the software so that only certain users or groups can see certain cameras?

A: Yes, you can do that via Main menu -> Remote access -> Users
