New version is available and yet I get the warning I might lose licenses. Why is that?

Q: It’s not clear to me if I can now update the software, I still run 19.x and I get a message that 22.x is available.
However, when I proceed in the application, I also get a message that continuing will loose my licenses. What is going on?

A: You must have several licenses activated on this machine, at least one of which “allows” for the update to the new version. Here’s some basic rules to this notification:
* The new version notification will be shown whenever a new version is available that at least one of the licenses in this server allows update for.
* If there are no licenses that support update on an activated server, the new version notification is not shown.
* If there are no licenses activated on this server (or if Xeoma cannot find them), the new version notification will be shown for any new version available.

It’s worth mentioning that newer licenses do not extend the updates period of older licenses. Each license has a separate updates period embedded, and you’d need Renewal to extend the updates period of one that has run out of the updates period.

You see the ‘update available’ message because one of your licenses supports updating. However, you can only get that update with one of your licenses, the other one will go inactive.

You can either
a) ignore the ‘updates available’ message (if needed, turn it off in Main menu -> Information -> Check for updates, and untick all options and then click the X button! Not the tick!),
or
b) if you want to have the latest version – you need to purchase a Renewal for the 4-cameras license, and activate it over your licenses.
