License questions

Q: if I want to buy a license with 16 cameras, can I buy 16 more cameras in the same license? and so the total would be 32 cameras, but in the same license for a server

A: Yes, you can buy more licenses of the same type and add them to the licenses you already have and use in a server. It will be separate licenses, not the same one, but they can be used together in one server.

Example: you now purchase Xeoma Standard for 16 cameras. In 2 months you have 32 more cameras to add – you purchase a new Xeoma Standard license for 32 cameras and add it to the same server that uses the previously purchased 16-cameras license. They work together now. In another 4 months, you have 128 more cameras you’d like to add – you purchase another Xeoma Standard license, this time for 128 cameras, and add it the same way. All 3 licenses for 176 cameras total can work in the same server. And so on.
Besides, you can add Xeoma Pro licenses for a couple of cameras to a server that has Xeoma Standard licenses – for example, if some of the cameras would need to use the Xeoma Pro’s ‘Cross-Line Detector’ or ‘Loitering Detector’ modules. And in reverse, if you first purchase Xeoma Pro, you can later purchase and add Xeoma Standard license (with only exception: the mode ‘Xeoma Pro Your Cloud’ runs only on Xeoma Pro licenses and cannot combine with Xeoma Standard in any way).

Buying a license for a bigger amount of cameras in usually more beneficial (it is cheaper per camera if you purchase a ‘bigger’ license) but buying ‘smaller’ licenses (licenses for less cameras) – and then buying more when you need them – is a way to not invest much money from the start. Youc an choose whatever suits you best.

Q: When I activate a new license on a current license that I already have, will the cameras from the current license appear next to the cameras from the new licenses? Or will they be separate cameras?

A: There is no separation of cameras that you can add thanks to this or that license. All cameras will be shown together, next to each other, on the Multi-Camera View interface of Xeoma.
However, if you want to separate cameras by this or other trait, you can use the Pages functionality – that is create tabs with specific selected cameras on them. Read more about Pages here

Q: And how can I add another license to the same server? Where should I go?

A: All licenses are activated the same way, whether it’s the first license or a new license that you want to add.
Activation is done either through Xeoma interface (Main menu -> Registration -> Activate) or through console.

All types of activation are described in a step-by-step guide here

Q: The final price of the license, after choosing the number of cameras, the license, etc. Do I only have to pay that price once?

A: Yes, this is a one-time payment, paid once. You will get the selected lifetime license with 1 year updates of Xeoma. In 1 year, you can no longer get new versions of Xeoma but you can continue using that version of Xeoma you will have by then for eternity.
