Conclusion and Summary Table
Cloud surveillance is an incredibly useful variation of modern video monitoring, ideal for users that lack access to capacious, powerful servers to store and process their video materials. Various cloud services function precisely for such situations, and the multipurpose Xeoma software belongs to this list. In this article, we continue our series dedicated to comparing Xeoma with other video surveillance programs. However, here we will touch upon Xeoma’s performance as a cloud data storage with the example of another cloud video surveillance service, Ivideon.
Technical Limitations
Video
Xeoma Cloud’s video storage options are extremely varied. Xeoma Cloud allows you to both center your video recording and processing on the cloud repository and use your own local server in combination with Xeoma’s servers. Supported video formats include MJPEG and H.264 with a resolution of up to 7680×4320 and a frame rate of up to 20 Mbps. Remote access is available via Xeoma clients for a large number of systems, or a web browser. Preferred conditions for video storage can be chosen manually when selecting a subscription plan. In conjunction with the main Xeoma video surveillance software, video can be duplicated to local devices.
The Ivideon cloud service also offers remote access to the stored and processed videos through a web interface and a client. However, cloud storage is only available via a subscription to Ivideon’s most expensive plan. When it comes to video formats, MP4 is preferred.
Supported Functions, Cameras, Systems
Xeoma Cloud is multifunctional and exhibits an impressive variety of settings. The cloud version of the Xeoma video surveillance program provides access to all the basic functions of Xeoma software: video preview, notifications, archives, PTZ tracking – as well as filter modules such as “Motion Detector”, “Visitors Counter”, “Sound Detector”, “Problems Detector”, and many others. When working with fish-eye cameras, it is possible to adjust the image to return it to an 180-degree view.
A truly unprecedented feature of Xeoma is the fact that it supports a broad range of different cameras and systems. Xeoma Cloud in particular can work with IP and Wi-Fi cameras, analog cameras and NVR/DVR devices, and its Client runs on all popular systems: Windows, Linux (including Linux ARM and such Linux-based OSes as Red OS or Astra Linux), Android, macOS, iOS. Client can be launched right after download – installation is not required.
Ivideon Client supports fewer systems: Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, Linux (but not Linux ARM). After download, the program needs to be installed. The list of supported cameras mirrors Xeoma’s: analog cameras and NVR/DVRs, IP and WiFi cameras. However, unlike Xeoma, Ivideon is inclined towards IP cameras above all the others. To connect, for example, a DVR to Ivideon, you will need to specify all the information of the device available, while Xeoma only requires to specify the video stream URL. As for detection, Ivideon only offers motion and sound detection. PTZ cameras are also supported.
Xeoma is aimed to make video surveillance systems flexible and scalable, allowing its users to add new cameras and increase the capacity of their storage. This solution is ideal for burgeoning businesses that require something adaptable to the ever-changing conditions of the sphere. Contrarily, Ivideon’s scalability is minimal – this option will suit users with defined systems that cannot or do not need to be expanded.
Archives
Xeoma presents its users with powerful tools for handling archives that include, but are not limited to
- Archive search by time, source, and even event (motion);
- Synchronization of multiple archives;
- Configuration of user permissions for individual archive access.
Ivideon’s tools are simpler and more minimalist: archive search is done primarily by time and source, while search by event is only available with a subscription to a specific plan (Cloud). Although Ivideon has an option to manage user rights, it’s not as in-depth as Xeoma’s and only involves basic settings.
Notifications
Xeoma Cloud supports the following ways of sending notifications:
- Sending e-mail;
- SMS sending;
- Mobile (push) notifications.
Ivideon has one fewer:
- Sending e-mail;
- Mobile (push) notifications.
Both services allow their users to configure notifications to additionally receive information about detected events (the camera where and the time when detection occurred) and a screenshot or a video recording of said events.
Interface
The interfaces of both services display a generous variety of functions and are described by their manufacturers as intuitive and minimalist. Nevertheless, they have their differences.
Xeoma’s visuals are based on touch screens – the trending and most common electronic displays as of 2025. Its minimalism is achieved through elegant, thin borders of the interface elements, and the menu is conveniently situated in the center of the screen. Cameras and their settings are managed via an easily comprehensible modular system. These modules can be arranged in all sorts of unique chains that the user deems suitable for his or her system. More detailed options for module configuration can be accessed with one click on the needed module’s icon.
Ivideon’s interface is also fairly neat: camera previews can be found on the right side of the screen, and the list of cameras used and their settings – on the left. Muted colors, smooth lines and grid-based positioning of its elements appear user-friendly (especially when compared to such a program as Blue Iris, for instance), but the panel-and-box format as a whole, while potentially appealing to inexperienced users, is considered quite outdated.
Pricing and Tariffs
An important factor in choosing your dream video surveillance system is the cost of its services. This section of our comparative analysis is dedicated to the differences between the tariffs of Xeoma Cloud and Ivideon.
When it comes to the service’s pricing, Xeoma is the software that truly shines. The cost of Xeoma subscription depends on the number of cameras and their parameters, as well as the storage time of the archive. Furthermore, the tariffs include plans both for fixed camera numbers and those unique to the user’s system at rather favorable prices. For example, a Xeoma Cloud subscription for 1 camera with a resolution of 640×360 and continuous recording will be about $3 per month, while 16 cameras with the same parameters will be $48 with no interest. The archive storage period can be selected of up to one year, and the service does not enforce restrictions on video export. Before purchasing, the user is offered a free trial of Xeoma Cloud, which only requires the user’s e-mail for the trial subscription data to be sent to. The trial mode is available for 24 hours and allows connecting and archiving 2 cameras at once.
The price of an Ivideon subscription is also determined by the number of cameras, though one of the plans is free of charge. There are three subscription plans in total:
- Freemium (viewing of the last 8 hours only, export of up to 10 minutes of video only, 1 user only);
- Online (about $1,7 per camera, export of up to 8 hours only, viewing only);
- Cloud (about $3 per camera for 3 days of storage, the biggest selectable storage period is 30 days).
The second and the third plans from the list include a seven-day trial period that ends automatically. It is also worth noting that the service used to have different subscription plans (“For home” and “For business”) which are now considered old. If the user needs to switch to a new plan, he or she will need to contact Ivideon technical support. Extending or reactivaing “old” plans is not possible.
Technical Support and Additional Services
Technical Support and the Official Website
The official website of Xeoma provides step-by-step instructions on how to work with the software, a detailed user manual (available both online and as a PDF file), video tutorials, the FAQ section, and the notes from the tech support team for solving particularly rare problems. Users can discuss Xeoma on a specialized forum. Aside from the forum, technical support is available via e-mail, messengers, online chat, and phone. Optionally, any user can order paid remote support, be it to configure Xeoma’s preexisting functions or adding and fine-tuning new ones.
Ivideon’s technical support is carried out via online chat, messengers, e-mail, and phone. Tutorials and answers to some of user inquiries can be found in a separate section on the official website (the so-called “Knowledge Base”) or on the Ivideon Youtube channel as tutorials and webinars.
Other Services
Additionally, Ivideon distributes IP cameras, WiFi cameras and video recorders with the firmware of the Ivideon brand, chiefly designed to work with the Ivideon cloud service. Other surveillance products are:
- Ivideon Server software license. Ivideon Server is a program for local video surveillance that doesn’t require a cloud connection (around $40 per camera);
- Ivideon Bridge – a specialized device for connecting various recorders and cameras to Ivideon Cloud at the same time. This device can also be used to connect cameras that might not be compatible with the service directly.
Although Xeoma doesn’t distribute cameras or recorders with its brand firmware, the basic license for the software as it is can easily compete with Ivideon Server. The pricing, once again, offers more flexibility (going from $11 for 2 cameras for the cheapest license), and that’s not accounting for the Free Edition that supports an unlimited number of sources for preview and up to 4 sources for archive recording.
Another advantage of Xeoma is the Xeoma Pro Your Cloud service, available in the Xeoma Pro edition ($87 per camera). This feature allows the user to deploy his or her own cloud service independently of the Xeoma Cloud servers. Xeoma also offers the option of free or paid (at the user’s choice) customization of the program (including Xeoma Pro Your Cloud) for the most accurate representation of your brand.
Conclusion and Summary Table
As the results of our comparative analysis show, such cloud video surveillance services as Xeoma Cloud and Ivideon differ rather drastically despite the similarity of what they offer.
Xeoma Cloud is a more flexible and scalable platform, suitable for both private use and large projects. This is reflected in a vast selection of its tariffs, versatile user permissions settings, and support of an impressive variety of systems. Ivideon is a simpler option for private use and small or medium business. Its tariffs are stricter and designed primarily for users with a predefined vision of their ideal surveillance system.
Both cloud services calculate their prices depending on the user’s needs, be it storage capacity or the number and parameters of cameras, although Xeoma’s options are more variable.
