What is responsible for the moving rectangles during motion detection?

Q: What is responsible for the moving rectangles during motion detection on only 2 of my 5 installed cameras?

A: This effect is what we call ‘motion visualization’. There are 3 things needed for this effect:
1) at least one Motion Detector needs to be present in the chain (and it should be triggered for the rectangles to appear)
2) the detector needs to be connected to either Preview and Archive or Preview (otherwise, the detector still works but you don’t see the results on screen)
3) the ‘Motion Visualization’ option should be enabled in the Layouts menu. See more here
