Responses to user support requests. Weekly overview. Part 2.

Q: HI, I’ve recently migrated Xeoma to a new system and since then I can not view archive data, xeoma is in fact storing it successfully with no issues. One thing I am noticing is from the point the system starts, I can view that archive data, but once I reboot the system it will no load previous archive data even though the location exists and will store new archive footage to it. I recall in the past once I reboot and restart xeoma it would indicate loading archive record, I no longer see this and wondering if there is a setting that is incorrect or something.

I have searched online with no luck at this point.

Please help.

A: Are you archives stored locally or on mounted network storage? If the latter – it’s possible that Xeoma’s service starts working slightly earlier than the mounting is fully finished after the OS boots, so Xeoma can’t access the storage and does not load the previous archives.
The way to solve this is to do the following on the server, if it’s on Linux:
1) locate Xeoma’s autostart script (usually it’s /etc/systemd/system/XeomaCoreService.service
2) open it with any text editor
3) at the end of the line ExecStart you will find -startdelay 10 – here set the number higher (this is the number of seconds Xeoma waits on boot before running)
4) save the changes and reboot the server

Q: do you have support at uae ??

A: We offer support for Xeoma all over the world, please see our work hours and ways to contact us here: https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/contacts/

Q: 1.
Does the motion detector need to clearly see a person’s face, or can it detect a moving person based on their silhouette (for example, in low light conditions or when filmed from the side)?

2.
Does search for a “Humany ony” work as normal?
(Archive Search -> Serch for motion -> select a rectangel area for search)

A: 1) No face required, a silhouette is enough.
2) Yes, archive search works the same way.

Q: I get a message “Warning! The stream for the archive does not work! Preview stream is currently useed for recording” that appears on the cameras when I configure them for the maximum available resolution (3840×2160) at 10 fps.
Consider that the link is on a 1Gbs optical network, so I exclude bandwidth problems.

A: In 99% of cases this message indicates issues related to the camera or network. The error tells that the URL that is currently set for the stream to the archive does not receive video. You can test the archive stream in VLC, here’s our step-by-step guide: https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/support/faq/play-live-stream-in-vlc/

Q: As a separate question, I’m planning on renewing my Xeoma Standard for 8 cameras soon, but I’m wondering if there is a way to get multi-camera playback without upgrading all the way to Xeoma Pro. Is there a separate plugin I can buy for Standard?

A: Unfortunately, multi-camera playback is only available in Pro. The good news is, you only need Pro for 1 camera so that this function becomes opened for all. That appeals to all functions pointed with the asterisk in this list. Moreover, for this one camera you don’t need to purchasing the whole new Pro, you can apply the Standard to Pro upgrade to it. This way, you’ll have 7 cameras with Standard, 1 with Pro and multi-camera playback for all.

Important note, since Upgrade doesn’t renew the license free updates period, we’d recommend applying the Renewal for Standard 8 cameras first, and the Upgrade to Pro for 1 camera to be able to use the latest version for all cameras in the best way.
