Responses to user support requests. Weekly overview. Part 8.
Q: Do you know how to use an AOQEE S1 camera with Xeoma?
A: Xeoma works with 99+% cameras as it connects to cameras via various common protocols: ONVIF/HTTP/RTSP. We checked your camera’s documentation. Unfortunately, it seems that it can only with it’s native app via wi-fi, and wi-fi is the only one mentioned in the ‘Connectivity protocols’ field on Amazon. Therefore, it will likely not work in Xeoma.
Though our general instructions for cameras connection are as follows:
Does the camera description say that it supports ONVIF? Does your camera only work in its own app or does it also support third-party apps?
Does your camera work in a browser? To check this, enter its IP address in the browser address bar and see if the browser opens the admin page, where you should see a live image from the camera.
If the camera does not work in the browser, you should troubleshoot the cause. See the camera documentation or contact support.
If the camera works in the browser, but is not “found” in Xeoma, the easiest way is to try to redo the automatic search of Xeoma (the “+” icon at the bottom of the icon panel -> Simple search for local cameras – if the camera is on the same network as your Xeoma computer OR “+” -> Search by IP/password if the camera is in a remote location). Sometimes cameras are not detected the first time due to network issues. Repeating the search may help.
If the camera was found in Xeoma but does not show a live image and you see an error message instead, please see this page for troubleshooting possible errors: https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/articles/xeoma-messages/
No error message usually signals that something non-standard is used in the camera settings (for example, non-standard ports). Please check its web administration page in a browser to see if you can find anything unusual there, and repeat the IP/password search (+ icon -> IP/password search) with this new data.
Alternatively, you can add the camera manually – click “Add new camera manually” in the “+” menu, then go to the camera settings and specify the full URL of the MJPEG/JPEG/H264/MPEG-4 stream from your device – you will need to find the correct URL (you can check the camera documentation or contact its support).
Also, make sure your PC’s firewall is not blocking Xeoma.
Another way to determine whether the problem is on Xeoma’s side or somewhere else is to check the video streams in the VLC player. Please find instructions here.

Q: Hi, I’m using your Xeoma software 24.2.14 on my Linux mint machine (I won’t upgrade as I don’t want the aspect ratio changing) everything has been fine for months until recently the program just closes for no obvious reason I then reopen and it runs until it closes again is there any reason for this?
A: It looks like the server part crashes. Please find a trace.log file in the system and send it to us.
The trace.log file is usually created next to the Xeoma executable file (xeoma.exe, xeoma.app). You can check if a trace.log file has been created next to the Xeoma executable file, or you can search your computer for the word ‘trace.log’.
Q: Please share the commands to install the Xeoma Server on RaspberryPi 5, without GUI, CLI based only.
A: Here is what you can do:
1) wget https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/downloads/latest/linux/xeoma_linux_arm8.tgz
2) tar -xvzf xeoma_linux_arm8.tgz
3) sudo ./xeoma.app -install -coreauto
