Smoke and fire detector – maximum distance, geo location, cameras it works with

Q: I have some questions about the Smoke and fire detector.
* Is your module already integrated with a camera ? If it isn’t the case, do you work with a particular camera ? and how does your module fit into the camera ?
* Over what maximum distance can these detections be made ?
* Once the detection is done, is your system able to locate this point geographically ?

A: Like other modules in Xeoma, the Smoke Detection module itself is just software that analyzes video streams from a camera.
It is not integrated with a camera; instead, it can work with any camera supported by Xeoma. See list here

The maximum distance depends largely on the camera and its angle – Xeoma works with individual frames coming as part of the video stream from a camera (or other video source); each frame is a just a flat image, so depth cannot be reliably guessed from it. Instead, Xeoma uses a neural network to look for parts of the frame (groups of pixels, basically) that resemble fire or smoke and reacts to that. The closer the fire/smoke is to the camera – the more pixels we have to work with.

Regarding the geographical location, the software can figure out which part of the frame contains what was detected, and that can be used by you for geo location.
