Is there a way to capture a h264 feed directly from a USB camera?

Q: Is there a way to capture h264 feed directly from a USB camera? I can’t seem to get the frame rate I want from my usb cam.

A: When working with USB cameras (whether in SBCs or regular PCs) our software only gets the resolution and fps options that the camera’s driver provides.

You can try other options:

  • see if a default camera program sees the frame rate you need;
  • see if driver re-installation helps;
  • see if the camera actually supports working under the OS you have;
  • use a different USB camera or an IP camera instead.

H264 is usually a property of network cameras, so it’s unlikely you can get it from a USB camera directly.
But if you do get it in any way outside of Xeoma, Xeoma will probably see it and connect it as an IP camera.
