Traditional video surveillance systems that simply record and store images from a camera are being replaced by intelligent technologies that can analyse, predict, and make decisions. AI not only improves existing methods but also restructures the very concept of security and monitoring. We will discuss in our new article how this happens and what consequences these changes bring.

The “Inverter” module

“Inverter” is a filter module in Xeoma which automatically reverses the state of the previous module in the chain (or several modules if they are connected to the “Inverter” in parallel). Thus, if the previous module is triggered and passes the signal, the “Inverter” will block it. And vice versa: if the previous module is not triggered, the “Inverter” will pass the trigger signal to the next module in the chain. Read more in our new article!

The “Duration Detector” module

Another innovative module, available in the recently released beta version of Xeoma 25.7.9, is called Duration Detector. This is a filtering module that enables you to respond to events — such as the presence of motion, smoke, or a specific object in the frame — that last excessively long: longer than the maximum allowable duration you set. The module also supports reverse functionality: it can react to the absence of desired objects or events in the frame for longer than allowed. See examples, configuration details, and usage conditions of the module in our new article!

Starting with Xeoma Beta 25.7.9, Xeoma video surveillance software now offers a new filter module called Timer. With its help, users can set a time during which subsequent modules in the chain will work and define break intervals between these working cycles. This allows you to set cyclic work intervals – determining how long the module should work and how long it should rest (with infinite repetition).
