Sources settings

In a «Sources» window you can see the list of the configured sources.

At the first start of the program this list of sources is empty.

Adding of new source: Add new source.

For the beginning it is necessary that you add at least one. To do this press the «Add new source» button.

In a «Source settings» dialog you can set the Name of a source. For example, the Camera 1 (the program assigns to sources names like: Source_N+1 by default). In case you plan to add multiple sources, it is recommended to assign meaning names to then, otherwise it could cause mistakes very soon.

Choose Type of a source (the Device, the File, Screenshot, URL, etc).

In a Details line specify a device from the list (if type of a source is device), or a full file name (if type of a source a file). For other types of sources it could be required to make an additional selection.

If you choose a device as a source type, you can also open «Device settings» dialog, where it is possible to set parameters of the video standard, frame frequency, a color mode, the size of the output image, source of audio, etc, depending on the selected device.
For TV-tuner you can additionally select a channel for receiving a TV program, switch between cable/antenna/video-input, etc.

For sources depending on Internet downloading - URL and Internet Webcams, there is also minimal interval is configured between downloadings. This allows to download images with the frequency, which is really needed to you. This will minimizes your Internet traffic, if very often (real time) downloading is not necessary to you.

If you want to use IP-camera (usually from local network) as a source - you have to choose source type «URL» and enter the URL (Internet address with path to live image or MJPEG video stream) of that camera, for example «http://192.168.0.7/picture.jpg». Where «192.168.0.7» - IP-address of IP-camera.
If it is necessary to use login and password to access IP-camera - use next URL format: «http://login:password@192.168.0.7/picture.jpg».
If camera uses specific port (not 80) - specify it like this: «http://login:password@192.168.0.7:1234/picture.jpg», where 1234 - port on which IP-camera works.

The way to create Internet web-camera as source is the same: choose source type «URL» and enter URL for web-camera.
For example «http://www.webcams.com/camera1.jpg» (this URL is just for example, it isn't real).

Changing of a source: Edit source.

If the list of configured sources has one or more sources already, you can edit or delete a source.

For editing or deleting a source — select a source from the list (you will see the image received from this source in a preview window), and press the «Edit source» button or «Delete source» button.

Destinations settings.

More information about Destinations please read here: Destinations settings . Destinations are necessary when you need not only view images from sources, but also save them (at least into archive), process them, use motion detector, publish to the Internet, etc.

Advanced device settings dialog.

Advanced device settings dialog allows you to adjust your video device parameters more flexible. Also you can select audio source (audio device or sound card) to add sound to your video records (for example, to record TV-programs with sound or in pair «camera + microphone» etc.). Button «Audio settings» - calls audio device settings dialog.
Attention! You can change audio device settings only after applying current source settings (i.e. after pressing «OK» or «Apply» button on main settings dialog). Also the source must have destination with type «Video».

Field «Audio device (sound card)»
If you want videos with sound - select audio device you need in this field.

Some video capturing devices, like TV-tuners, can transmit audio signal only via "audio out". It is necessary to connect this "audio out" to "audio in" of sound card using special cable as a unit of device package. In this case set check in box "My video device is already connected to this audio device via cable" to avoid unwanted sound effects like echo.

Button «Video settings» - calls video settings dialog. Here you can change:
frame rate, color space (RGB, CMYK, YUY2 etc.) and image dimensions.
Advice: use RGB color space to reduce time of color conversions and speed up the program a little.

Button «Video input setup» - calls video input setup dialog. This ability is available only for video capture devices with multiple video inputs. Some TV-tuners also support these settings.

Button «TV-tuner settings» - calls TV-tuner settings dialog. Here you can specify TV-channel, TV-mode "antenna/cable", video standard etc.

If your source is TV-tuner you can change channel in an easier way: set channel to field "Current channel" and press button "Change" in lower part of the dialog.

Attention! All device settings dialogs are system dependent. It is possible the same functionality devices from different producers have different settings dialogs. So the full description for these dialogs you can find in device documentation or in accompanying software for this device.
